Our Story
Reckless Native Records is a Māori-owned independent record label founded by Mahima Mane-Chapman in 2019, based in Aotearoa, New Zealand.
Built around the connection between sound, story, and identity, Reckless Native Records was established as a platform for independent artists to create meaningful work and develop distinctive artistic worlds.
The label’s first artist project, EMCEA, was created by Mahima Mane-Chapman as a sonic and visual exploration of music, imagery, memory, and storytelling. Through EMCEA, Reckless Native Records began shaping its vision of supporting artists who create beyond individual songs — artists who build experiences, identities, and worlds around their work.
Rooted in Aotearoa, Reckless Native Records is committed to nurturing independent music and amplifying unique creative voices. We believe artists are storytellers, and every work carries the identity, experiences, and perspectives that shape its creator.
